After a long weekend

Thanksgiving was at Mom and Dad's - had turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, and a ton of sides my mom made. She also made 3 different kinds of pie. All the food was delicious. We had fun playing Life. That night we went to see The Blind Side. I had read the book, and the movie was super. I am not sure I would be as brave as that family, but I am sure the family felt they had been given more than the child they were helping. How rewarding the whole situation must be.
Friday morning I was up and out of the house by 4:15 and made it to Target, where the long line had already started. I did get the bag they were giving away, and all the items on my list. Target is very organized and was ready for the crowds. All my questions were answered by the employees and check out was quick. They did a great job with the Friday morning rush.
Then I went to Younkers, where as I was leaving the security alarm went off. The guy at the door told me to step aside, I showed him my receipts, and he said he would let me go since it was Black Friday. I was upset - I had just spent all this money and then I get pulled aside because someone did not deactivate a security device. That has happened to me there so many times. I think I am done spending my money there. It gets really old.
Next I went to Michaels and Ulta, bought a few items, no huge crowds.
Stopped by the house to wait for Borsheim's to open. Got there early, was one of the first one's through the outside door, and they were not ready for the rush. Once I was helped, they were very nice, but there mode of selling does not bode well for crowds. But I did get my items I wanted. Did a little more shopping, then back home to recuperate.
Went to Canfield's on Saturday, and to Joann's and Mangelson's. Joann's was so busy did not want to get in line to buy anything. Watched some of the Nebraska game. Went to Red Lobster Saturday night.
On Sunday worked on my corncob snowman ornaments and watched some of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame concert.

He Chose Us

A couple of weekends ago, Kyle was walking by an office building with some friends. They heard a loud meow and found a stranded baby kitty in the bushes. Kyle brought him home, and asked if we could keep him. Hmmm, don't really need another pet to take care of, how will LaLa and Sophie like him?, he has a bump on his noggin' - will he be ok?, his front leg doesn't work quite right - is it broken?, Jon is allergic to cats, and on and on with more reasons on why not to keep this little stray kitty. But then I started taking care of him, he was so tiny, so cute, so sweet. He couldn't be turned in to the Humane Society, I dont think he would make the adoption cut due to his leg. We took him to the vet, the kitty is like around 5 weeks old, nerve damage that may or may not heal caused the front leg not to work correctly, and he did have a bump on his head. I told Kyle he may be a special needs kitty, and that was ok with all of us, one of the reasons he is so special. He is growing and his tummy is getting big. He stands/sits on his hind legs really well. He likes to snuggle on your shoulder. He goes crazy playing and jumping around. He now climbs the stairs to the upstairs rooms. He is a keeper.
We are still working out the name: Leon, Chaos, IBK (Itty Bitty Kitty), Captain Hook

Flu Shot Season

Doug stood in line on Monday up at MNHS for FOUR hours waiting to get his H1N1 flu shot. When I drove by the school on my way home from work was packed like I had never seen it before. The night was cold and rainy and the line was formed outside. At least he did get his shot. Kyle and Jon opted not to. Wonder if they are afraid of shots ? hmmmm

Summer in Omaha

Enjoying the College World Series this week. Went to the opening night activities.
We found this great place to park in someone's back yard - we were able to exit through an alley. But the traffic was crazy and Doug was stuck behind someone from Kansas. Frosty let eveyone know how great a driver he thought "Kansas" was. Too funny.
